The super Falcons of Nigeria have picked up three points in day two of the ongoing Women\u2019s World Cup tournament, following a 3-2 win over host nation Australia.<\/p>\n
Uchenna Kanu, Ohale and Assisat Oshoala were on target as Nigeria goes top of Group B with four points after a zero all draw on the first day against Canada.<\/p>\n
Australia opened scores early into added time before the break through Van Egmond but the lead did not last for too long as Kanu took advantage of a cross to score Nigeria first goal in this edition of the competition.<\/p>\n
Osinachi Ohale netted the second, a 65\u2019 header that saw Nigeria take the lead which Assisat Oshoala extended seven minutes later, finishing from a tight angle.<\/p>\n
By scoring this goal, Oshoala becomes the first African player to score at three Women\u2019s World Cup tournaments, causing Nigeria produce the first major shock of the Women’s World Cup this Thursday.<\/p>\n
At the 10th minute of added time, Alanna Kennedy pulled one back to make the score line slimmer but no other equalizing goal came in after that, giving Nigeria all three points over third place co-host.<\/p>\n
Nigeria seats top of group B with four points, level on point with second place Canada and now already has an upper hand to make it pass this stage of the competition giving they will face already eliminated Republic of Ireland in the last group game.<\/p>\n
Australia must grab a win against Canada on the last day if they must sail through to the knockout phase of the competition since they seat above Ireland with three points.<\/p>\n
The other group B game saw Canada beat the Republic of Ireland 2-1 to maintain their second position in the group.<\/p>\n
