Anicet Yala, the head coach of the U-20 Panthers of Gabon says his side expects and is ready for a tough battle against Central Africa Republic (CAR) U-20 when they meet this Friday in the final fixture of the 2023 UNIFFAC U-20 Fatshi Cup tournament.<\/p>\n
Yala made the revelation during the pre-match conference at the hall of the Congolese Football Federation on Thursday as he performed his eve of match media duties.<\/p>\n
“We are cautious of the fact that we are going to play a team that is complicated to manoeuvres given that they don’t have pressure again.<\/p>\n
“It is clear that in their minds there are doubts but it must be said that it is a trap. The trap is to play a team that has lost two games always concedes but wants to react. We have the top scorer so we will try to score against them and see what happens,” Yala said.<\/p>\n
Gabon has endured tough times during the week-long competition, having to do with a depleted squad as players sweat to be fit for the last game.<\/p>\n
“We had some injuries from the last game against Congo, but their recovery is going well. However, we have players that are determined and this determination will be key for us tomorrow.<\/p>\n
“Our players are disciplined and we are going to capitalize on that to make the most of the limited resources,”<\/p>\n
“The competition is going well, well organized and we pray it continues this way,” Yala summed his thoughts about this first edition of the competition.<\/p>\n
Midfielder Mebale Nkezogho followed his trainer to the presser and called on their compatriots back at home to rally to believe in them.<\/p>\n
“We are good in our group despite the injuries. We are ready to give our all to win and be champions. I call on the Gabonese people back at home to believe in us. We want to win this trophy.”<\/p>\n
Gabon on four points faces CAR at 3PM at the Stade de Martyrs in Kinshasa while DR Congo are up against neighbors Congo Republic in a fixture capable of producing sparks.<\/p>\n
The nation with the highest number of points will bag $60 000 set aside as prize and participation returns for the champions.<\/p>\n
