The U-20 Panthers of Gabon have been crowned champions of the maiden Edition of the Central African Football Federations’ Union (UNIFFAC) U-20 Fatshi Cup tournament.<\/p>\n
The boys of coach Anicet Yala picked up the trophy on Friday afternoon at the Stade de Martyrs in Kinshasa DR Congo after they beat Central Africa Republic 2-0 and Congo Republic lost 1-2 to DR Congo who finished runners-up.<\/p>\n
Gabon went into the final round of the four-nations tournament with four points as Congo, but holding in mind a win will put them in a better position if second-seeded Congo fails to match their results.<\/p>\n
Mebale Alex Jose and substitute Bouanga Oumar scored in either half to ensure the Panthers cap a disappointing zero point tournament for Central Africa Republic.<\/p>\n
The Gabonese won the game and moved to seven points, leaving it all for Congo to do in the second game.<\/p>\n
It wasn’t the start Congo needed to give themselves a chance of adding to their four points before kick-off.<\/p>\n
Djodjo Kombe scored the opener half hour into the contest but John Itoua leveled in added time to set up a pulsating second segment.<\/p>\n
Mardoche Kalengalenga sent the home crowd into total frenzy as they were just minutes away from their second victory of the competition.<\/p>\n
The derby ended on the 2-1 score in favor of the host this crowning captain Notta and his Gabonese mates champions of the competition.<\/p>\n
