Nick Nlend Afafa, Albert Tiku and Onege Dioudonne put up an outstanding performance as Isle of Hope Sports Academy (ISOHSA) of Limbe punished Istanbul FA 5-0 to seal a 6-0 aggregate win and advance to the final of the 2023 Southwest Regional League.<\/p>\n
Afafa netted a brace while Tiku and substitutes Onege, Eben Tomi scored one each to take the team closer to the regional title.<\/p>\n
Coming into the return-leg encounter with a 1-0 advantage and with the aim of dedicating victory once again to late team mate Joel Etogue, it is fair they achieved their mission.<\/p>\n
Istanbul FA made a fine attempt to get the first goal of the afternoon but was blocked. Njenja Diranho went one-on-one with goalkeeper Kelvin Ashu went short of ideas and chose to play with Atibeh Thierry who squandered the opportunity.<\/p>\n
ISOHSA took the lead at the 20th minute, thanks to Nick Afafa who took advantage of an unfocused backline.<\/p>\n
The 1-0 lead remained unchanged before the break, leaving the Limbe boys at this point on a 2-0 aggregate advantage.<\/p>\n
Three minutes into the second Albert Tiku scored a stunning goal. Afafa made a cross to nobody in particular from inside the opponents box, but a right-footed shot from Tiku who pounced on the ball on a half volley, giving ISOHSA a 2-0 lead in the afternoon.<\/p>\n
Afafa beat goalkeeper Elvis Nkemji to slide in the ball to the back of his net at the 50th minute to make it 3-0, completing his brace in this encounter.<\/p>\n
A smart wide assist from Tiku saw substitute Onege who came in before the start of the second segment, score the fourth for the Limbe ambitious boys.<\/p>\n
Coach Nlend knew at this point he had achieved a satisfactory results so brought out Tiku and Afafa for Zambo Abdoulaye and Arrey Beyang.<\/p>\n
But No! the boys were still hungry for more goals and it came at 76\u2019. Playmaker and skipper, Ashu Brice sent a long ball from the opponent half to Eben Tomi and the lad beat the goalkeeper to make it 5-0.<\/p>\n
Unarguably, the Nick and Tiku pair was likely to produce the player of this encounter and for the second time in this stage of the competition, Tiku earned the MOTM award, a reward he was privileged to share with his Father, Mr Ayuk Egbe Albert who was there as usual to support his son.<\/p>\n
All attempts from Istanbul to get a consolatory goal were futile as their attempts were denied by prolific defense man Kingsley Tebug and goalkeeper Kevin Ashu who throughout the game had very little work to do, thanks to a solid defense.<\/p>\n
