Guy Bukasa, the head coach of the DR Congo U20 national team has named an home-based dominated squad for the 2023 UNIFFAC U20 competition to get underway this Saturday in Kinshasa.<\/p>\n
The squad announced on Monday has all-but-one of the players dominated by players plying their trade in the Congolese domestic championship.<\/p>\n
Defender Chris Mbede of Aigle Noirs in Burundi is the only abroad-based player retained for the competition.<\/p>\n
The timing of the tournament out of the FIFA international break period among other reasons makes it impossible for coach Guy to summon players based in the diaspora.<\/p>\n
The likes of Sanga Balende, Saint Eloi Lupopo and AS Maniema Union are all represented in the Congolese squad that have as star man Meshchack Masengo of TP Mazembe.<\/p>\n
The Congolese team will use the tournament as preparations aid for the Francophonie games scheduled late this year.<\/p>\n
DR Congo will open their competition against Congo Republic at the Stade de Martyrs in Kinshasa on Saturday.<\/p>\n
