Potential indomitable Lions of Cameroon forward Hugo Ekitike says a meeting with the president of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) Samuel Eto’o Fils has had a telling impact on his decision to commit his international allegiance.<\/p>\n
The 21-year-old PSG forward who was born in France of a Cameroonian father has been courted by the FECAFOOT boss as part of efforts to add fresh impetus to the Rigobert Song’s team.<\/p>\n
Speaking in a recent interview, Hugo only had nice words for his native Cameroon while qualifying France as the best country in Europe before stating what his decision will depend on.<\/p>\n
“To me Cameroon is the best team in Africa and France the best team in Europe,” the former Stade Reims forward stated.<\/p>\n
Hugo faced a tough first season after switching to PSG last summer and remains cautious of the impact of the environment in the development of a player.<\/p>\n
“To me I want to play where I will have a chance to prove my capacity. I had the privilege of meeting legendary Samuel Eto’o who proposed I play for Cameroon. I am seriously thinking about it and will decide in due time.”<\/p>\n
Ekitike has represented France in different youth categories, but remains eligible to play for Cameroon through his parental lineage.<\/p>\n
In the past four years, FECAFOOT officials have stepped up efforts to bring into the frail footballers of Cameroon origin born abroad all in an attempt to strengthen the Indomitable Lions.<\/p>\n
The likes of Jean Charles Castelletto, James Lea Siliki, Franck Bambock, Enzo Ebosse, John Mary, Devis Epassy, Jean Claude Billong, Harold Moukoudi, Benjamin Elliot, Malcolm Bokele, Simon Ngapandouetbu are part of that scheme.<\/p>\n
