West Regional championship side Stade Bandjoun FC eliminated Stade Bertoua after a 4-3 win on post-match penalties to became the first third tier league club to reach the semi-final of the Cup of Cameroon since Victoria United FC in 2017.<\/p>\n

Former Racing Bafoussam goalkeeper Ekolle Alain put in an outstanding performance within 90 minutes, before going on to save a decisive penalty to ensure the Stade ride continues into the semi-final.<\/p>\n

Stade Bandjoun FC entered the contest with their tails up, having conquered Dragon Yaounde, Bamboutos FC of Mbouda and Stade Renard in the running to the last eight.<\/p>\n

Lead striker Gwot Stephane Bell and skipper Nyame Rodrique were guilty of squandering gilt-edged opportunities, but Ekolle’s heroics in the other end kept Stade alive all afternoon.<\/p>\n

Coach Joseph Victor K failed to make it 15 wins in fifteen on regular time this season, but found the resources to better their second tier opponents from the East region and set up an exciting semi-final clash against the winner between PWD of Bamenda and Dynamo of Douala in one of the other quarter-final.<\/p>\n

Stade Bandjoun FC’s best run in the Cup of Cameroon was a runners-up finish in the 1996 edition while PWD and Dynamo are the only previous winners left in the competition.<\/p>\n

In the other quarter-final final, Colombe of Dja picked up a 2-1 win against 2018 winners Eding Sport de la Lekie.<\/p>\n

Dynamo face PWD while Victoria United confronts Fovu in the other quarter-finals this Sunday.<\/p>\n
