Coach Bonaventure Djonkep has come to the end of his struggle and eight years of consistency at the top flight championship with Eding Sport de La Lekie, a club he brought closer to the title last football season.<\/p>\n
The vice champions have been relegated to the second tier championship after a 2-0 loss to Yong Sport Academy of Bamenda, in the relegation playoff battle on Friday, May 19.<\/p>\n
The tactician who has been at the club since they gained promotion to the top flight championship in 2015 as Elite two champions, has experienced his worse record so far and first time as he leads a club to relegation.<\/p>\n
He admits he lost a good number of fine players who took the club to finish second last season and that cost them a lot, resulting to a relegation.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had a very solid squad last season and then we lost 10 of these players to other clubs this season. We didn\u2019t bother to replace some of them because at first we didn\u2019t see the need, since I had faith in the ones I worked with last year and the past years\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI knew there would be a problem of comeback during the second phase after squandering our goal scoring opportunities in the first round of the group stage\u2026 we had faith we could save the team from this last game after the late homologation decision considering my players were already on break but unfortunately we lost it\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe won\u2019t give up but continue to work harder so we make a strong come back to the top.\u201d The former Indomitable lion added.<\/p>\n
Eding sport lost prolific forwards, Ramses Cabrel Donfack and Emmanuel Chamdjou to Cotonsport of Garoua, Captain Yves Alain Moukoko to Canon of Yaound\u00e9, Frank Baho to Cotonsport, Acha Lovis Fobi and Junior Tangko to YOSA and PWD of Bamenda respectively, the likes of Abdel Mifira and Mbah Louis who travelled to ply their trades out of the country, goalkeeper Souleyman Souleyman to Colombe, Figo Fernandez, just to name a few.<\/p>\n
Coach Djonkep has until 2025 to leave the club after renewing his contract before the start of this season.<\/p>\n
The former Fovu club of Baham trainer who led the club to become one time champions of Cameroon, equally won the league with Eding Sport in 2017 and the Cup of Cameroon the following year.<\/p>\n
The center based club who finished second last season, joins three other clubs from the region to be relegated from the elite One championship this season, following the drop of Dragon FC, Yafoot FC,\u00a0 and Renaissance of Ngoumou who though 60km away from Yaound\u00e9, is under the umbrella of the Center league.<\/p>\n
