Stade Bertoua have been relegated from the Elite 2 championship and suspended from all football activities for a period of one year after the homologation and disciplinary commission of the Cameroon football federation (FECAFOOT) found their fans guilty of attacking match officials during their match day 26 game at home to Victoria United FC.<\/p>\n
An appeal commission’s decision released Wednesday, May 10 confirmed early reports of suspension of the Bertoua Municipal Stadium and inflicts further sanctions on the East Region outfit.<\/p>\n
“The Commission acknowledged the previous decision of April 28 suspending the stadium. It noted the absence of security personnel during the game against Victoria United FC. Notes the unsportsmanlike behavior of the Stade Bertoua fans and decides as follows;<\/p>\n
– That Stade Bertoua is the cause of the interruption of the game counting for match day 25,<\/p>\n
-To suspend the club for the rest of the current season,<\/p>\n
– Fines Stade Bertoua the sum of 500 000FCFA<\/p>\n
– Stade Bertoua loses the game and covers the cost of the procedure while Victoria United FC gets the three points.<\/p>\n
This decision means Stade’s last home game against Dynamo of Douala will not hold and they won’t participate in the cup of Cameroon.<\/p>\n
As a result, Dynamo of Douala gains promotion to the top-flight for the first time since the 90s. They will join champion Victoria United FC returning for the first time since 2003 as the new boys in Elite 1 next season.<\/p>\n
