Cameroonian forward Bryan Mbeumo says he knew his effort that resulted in Brentford’s second goal against Chelsea was going to beat the keeper even before the ball departed his right foot.<\/p>\n
The Brentford forward unleashed a wicked drive outside the penalty area that beat Kepa Arrizabalaga to make it 2-0 for the Bees on Wednesday night at the Stanford Bridge.<\/p>\n
In his post-match reaction Mbeumo revealed the goal was a fruit of hours of practice in training.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis something we\u2019ve been working on after training. I was just thinking that I needed to hit the ball as hard as I can, in order to disturb the keeper.<\/p>\n
“I knew I could be a threat in this situation. I was just thinking that I needed to hit the ball as hard as I can, in order to disturb the keeper,” Mbeumo said.<\/p>\n
The forward who has had 12 Premier League goal involvement this season also acknowledged this was special.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo score here and celebrate with the boys, in front of our fans, was crazy.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t really have the words. I\u2019m very happy. To win here is not an easy task and we did it with a top performance.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cesar Azpilicueta scored an own goal eight minutes from the break. With Chelsea pushing forward after the break in search of an equaliser, the Bees exploited the space in behind. In the 78th minute, Mbeumo received a pass from Ivan Toney, drove up the right flank, cut onto his left foot and fired beyond Kepa via a deflection off Thiago Silva to send the away fans into delirium.<\/p>\n
It finished 2-0 and as Mbeumo said it was something special for Brentford.<\/p>\n
