Thursday, April 13, 2023- Burkina Faso has become the first country to arrive at Algeria for the 14th edition of the U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).<\/p>\n

The young Stallions touched down in Algiers in the early hours of today, 16 days before the start of the tournament as part of plans to improve their chances of better adapting to climate conditions.<\/p>\n

The WAFU B deputy champions are expected to move directly to Annaba – their venue for group stage matches.<\/p>\n

The West Africans are pooled in the tough Group C alongside debutants South Sudan plus double winners Cameroon and Mali.<\/p>\n

The boys of coach Brahima Traore are leaving no stone unturned as they return to the tournament they won in 2011 but have missed consecutive editions.<\/p>\n

The 12-nations tournament will get underway on April 29 and run till May 16 across four cities in Algeria.<\/p>\n

Annaba, Constantine, Oran and Algiers will be in a youth football party move throughout the tournament during which the best four sides will qualify for the U17 FIFA World Cup, scheduled later this year.<\/p>\n

Next week, Cameroon is expected to travel to Tunisia to acclimatize and continue the rest of preparations.<\/p>\n
