Cameroonian international Michaela-Batya Bisi Abam, has joined Sweden women’s top tier side Link\u00f6pings Fotboll Club, from US National Women’s Soccer League side, Houston Dash.<\/p>\n
Link\u00f6ping FC, who are topping the Swedish women’s top tier championship with six points recorded from two games played this season, announced on Tuesday that they have secured the services of the 25-year-old Cameroon forward.<\/p>\n
“We looked at Michaela already before Christmas and had a dialogue, but for various reasons it didn’t fall into place until now. We will benefit from her physique and technique in and around the opponent’s penalty area as well as her experience in international football, through games with both her national team and various leagues in Europe. She is a little different in her playing style than the other forwards in the squad and this will give us more opportunities for changes and we will become more versatile as a team,” says Andr\u00e9e Jeglertz, head coach of Link\u00f6ping FC.<\/p>\n
Though the duration of her deal with the Swedish club was not made public, Abam is expected to bring in a chunk of experience to Andr\u00e9e Jeglertz’s side. Her experience with the likes of Real Betis, Paris FC, Sky Blue FC and Houston Dash, will be of great importance in Link\u00f6ping FC’s quest to challenge for the league title.<\/p>\n
“I’m extremely excited to begin this new journey at Link\u00f6ping FC,” said Abam.<\/p>\n
” I have high respect for the competitiveness and talent within the league. I’ve felt and had nothing but positive conversations with Andr\u00e9e (Jeglertz) and look forward to being an integral part of the team,” Michaela Abam added.<\/p>\n
Born in the USA, Michaela Abam has represented Cameroon at the international level, where she has won about six caps, and scoring three goals for the indomitable lionesses.<\/p>\n
Created in 2003, Link\u00f6ping FC, has won the Swedish Damallsvenskan ( Women’s league) thrice (2009, 2016, 2017), and finished third in the 2022 season. Their recent wins against Rosengard and Orebro women, have put them in command of the championship.<\/p>\n
