Guy Feutchine, the Olympic Lions of Cameroon head coach says their tie against neighbors Gabon remains open despite losing 0-1 in the first-leg game last Saturday in Franceville.<\/p>\n
Speaking to the media this Monday ahead of Tuesday’s second-leg third round qualifier game at the Ahmadou Ahidjo, Feutchine assured Cameroonians as he vowed to deliver an improved performance in Yaounde.<\/p>\n
“When we observe the first game keenly. You will notice that we improved from the opening 45 minutes. In the second segment with a man down, we did well. So we draw inspiration from that performance as we were unlucky to lose,” Feutchine said.<\/p>\n
“Most of these players were involved in the previous round of the qualifier. The likes of Meyapia, Aambina Brice, Arthur Avom so we hope to have them at their best tomorrow to overturn the deficit.<\/p>\n
“We started this preparations about a month ago and the goal was to qualify for the AFCON. At the moment we remain optimistic and hope things work out for us tomorrow.”<\/p>\n
“Now is not the time to start making calculations about the state of the pitch. We will focus on internal factors which we can influence not external aspects,” Feutchine said when quizzed about the state of the match venue.<\/p>\n
Cameroon eliminated Angola in the previous round of the qualifier to book this appointment but Jeremie Obounet Moussango scored the lone goal to win the reversed fixture.<\/p>\n
Cameroon hope to devour Gabon and make it to Morocco in June 2023 for the U23 AFCON which will also serve as qualifier for the 2024 Olympic games in the discipline.<\/p>\n
