The Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea, have beaten Botswana 2-0, in their Group J qualifiers for the 2023 African Nations Cup (AFCON).<\/p>\n
UD Las Palmas’ defender Sa\u00fal Basilio Coco-Bassey Oubi\u00f1a, and Federico Bicoro, were on target, to hand Juan Micha Obiang Bicogo’s men an important win at the Nuevo Estadio de Malabo, in \u00c9quatorial Guinea.<\/p>\n
The Zebras of Botswana came into the game ranked bottom of Group J, but with great ambitions after they had secured one point against Tunisia in their previous game.<\/p>\n
Captain Emilio Nsue and mates had a good start in front of the home crowd in Malabo.<\/p>\n
Botswana’s center back Thato Kebue got the first yellow card of the game at the 19th minute, after committing a bookable offence. This was shortly before Sa\u00fal Coco put the Nzalang Nacional in front.<\/p>\n
Thato got his marching orders eight minutes into the second segment (53), when he was shown his second yellow of the game, forcing the Zebras to finishing the game with 10-men.<\/p>\n
27-year-old midfielder Federico Bicoro Akieme Nchama, doubled \u00c9quatorial Guinea’s lead at the 66th minute.<\/p>\n
Coach Mogomotsi Mpote of Botswana made four substitutions, with defender Benson Kitso Mangolo, midfielder Lebogang Ditsele and forwards Tumisang Orebonye and Mbatshi Chida Elias, coming on.<\/p>\n
Despite a dominance display, Botswana failed to hit the back of Jes\u00fas Owono’s net, as host Equatorial Guinea secured a 2-0 win.<\/p>\n
The Nzalang Nacional are now second in Group J with six points, behind group leaders, Tunisia. Juan Micha’s side are in search of their fourth participation at the AFCON, meanwhile Botswana’s only participation at the AFCON, was in 2012.<\/p>\n
