The indomitable lions of Cameroon might have had their best participation at the world cup in over two decades, when they finish third in Group G, ahead of Serbia. Despite recording an improved performance at the world stage, Rigobert Song was widely criticized for his choice of players for the competition.<\/p>\n

Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui was instrumental in Cameroon qualifying for the competition, but was surprisingly snubbed when Rigobert Song named his final squad for the competition.<\/p>\n

Nicolas Nkoulou’s name also repeatedly appeared on the media for criticisms, as he was one of the surprise names on the lion’s list for Qatar. Though he went on to play two games at the competition, it seemed not enough to vindicate Rigobert Song for his decision to pick the experienced defender ahead of Ngadeu.<\/p>\n

Speaking on a sports program on Radio Sports Infos on Tuesday, former indomitable lions Left wingback, Pierre Wom\u00e9 Nlend, insisted that he would have preferred Ngadeu over Nkoulou.<\/p>\n

“Nkoulou didn’t deserve to be in the World Cup. He had not been in the squad for a while, I would have preferred Ngadeu,” Wom\u00e9 Nlend said on RSI on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The former Inter Milan defender, who won 68 caps for Cameroon between 1995-2012, also gave his views on the current National team under Rigobert Song, with Samuel Eto’o as FECAFOOT president.<\/p>\n

“Since they’ve been there, there’s still been too many hiccups. I hope that things will go well afterward,” Wom\u00e9 Nlend added.<\/p>\n

Also part of the program on Radio Sports Infos on Tuesday, was former indomitable lions midfielder Joseph-D\u00e9sir\u00e9 Job. The former Lyon man, who scored nine goals in 51 appearances for the Cameroon National team, spoke about Andre Onana’s saga, which almost ruin Cameroon’s world cup participation.<\/p>\n

The Inter Milan goalkeeper left the world cup prematurely, and later on called off time on his international career. Desire Job thinks the whole situation was poorly handled.<\/p>\n

“It was badly managed. we don’t have the best goalkeeper in the national team right now. Onana hasn’t retired, he just decided to step aside because there’s a problem, the Cameroon national team is for everyone,” said Job.<\/p>\n

Comments from the two are coming weeks after former midfielder Sebastien Sianni, had blasted how Ngadeu was treated, stating that “he was thrown out like dirt.”<\/p>\n
