The head coach of the indomitable lions of Cameroon Rigobert song, has added two home based players to his squad as they prepare for their double header AFCON qualifiers against Namibia.<\/p>\n
Cameroon will host Namibia at the Amadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde on Friday March 24, before both sides will meet again four days later in the return game.<\/p>\n
Coach Rigobert song had made known his lidt of 24 players for the training camp that opened in Yaounde this Monday, but has now added two home based players to the list.<\/p>\n
PWD’s right back Thomas Etta Bawak and Canon’s Emmanuel Mahop, are the latest additions.<\/p>\n
Etta Bawak, who had an excellent game over the weekend with PWD in their win over Aigle of the Menoua, is returning to the squad after he was preselected prior to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He featured in the friendly game against Jamaica and later played all two games for the intermediate lions at CHAN 2022.<\/p>\n
Canon’s forward Emmanuel Mahop, netted twice in their 2-0 win over the weekend against Renaissance of Ngoumou, to take his season’s tally to 10 goals, and current top scorer of the Elite one championship.<\/p>\n
Fai Collins\u00a0 and forward Eric Maxime Choupo Moting, will miss the Namibia game, So BAWAK and Mahop will fill their absence.<\/p>\n
The Indomitable Lions began camping this Monday at the MUNDI multisports complex in Yaounde, with 13 players already present in the den.<\/p>\n
The other players including Nouhou Tolo, Jean Charles Castelletto, Christopher Wooh, Darlin Yongwa, Frank Zambo Anguissa, Olivier Ntcham, Bryan Mbeumo, Karl Toko Ekambi and Benjamin Elliott Njongoue, are expected in camp later this evening.<\/p>\n
The coming of Bawak and Mahop, now takes the number of home based players in the squad to three, after Gazelle’s goalkeeper Marcelin Mbahbi was also called in the initial list.<\/p>\n
