Bayern Munich forward Eric Maxim Choupo Moting will miss Cameroon’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier matches against Namibia at home and away after failing to recover from a back problem in time, kic442.com has gathered from prolific reporter Marc Chouamo.<\/p>\n

The striker has missed Bayern’s last two games against Augsburg and Bayer Leverkusen in a bid to cure a problem that has dogged him for the past two weeks, and he could be out for up to a month.<\/p>\n

The Cameroon international and fifth all-time top scorer in the history of the Indomitable Lions is unavailable for the matches on March 25 in Yaounde and 28 in Pretoria.<\/p>\n

He could be replaced by another player if the national team staff consider it necessary to do so.<\/p>\n

Choupo has been Bayern’s main man this season. Though not noted for scoring many goals in a game, the former PSG, Stoke City and Schalke 04 goal getter is his club’s lead scorer this campaign with 17 goals and three assists in 26 games across all competitions.<\/p>\n

Choupo switched sporting allegiance to Cameroon 13 years ago and has gone on to score 22 goals in 74 caps.<\/p>\n

Aboubakar Vincent, one of the top scorer at the moment will miss the first game in Yaounde, owing to a suspension dating back to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.<\/p>\n
