Cotonsport of Garoua sweeper Che Malone Fondoh Junior says it was tough to be on the losing end on his debut in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League but that has no impact on his desire to know more about the competition.<\/p>\n
The 23-year-old was the standout performer last Friday as the Cotonites slumped to 1-3 defeat in the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns FC.<\/p>\n
The match day fixture which was Coton’s first in the competition didn’t go as planned, but that doesn’t change Che’s plan.<\/p>\n
“The plan from the start was to help my team play many games in this competition this season,” Che began.<\/p>\n
“Winning could have made it more enjoyable today. Today we lost but we will work hard and come back stronger. I had hope for a better result on my debut. I hope to play more games in the competition and help us make it out of the group.”<\/p>\n
Che completed 31 passes across 90 minutes and received a standing ovation from the Coton fans for one of his runs deep into the second segment, highlighting his impact on the day Sundowns could have done more damage if not for his numerous interventions.<\/p>\n
The defender wants to forget the Downs results for obvious reasons.<\/p>\n
“We are playing our next game in few days. There is no time to think of the past. Congratulations to Sundowns for they did what we didn’t do. We switch our attention to the next game.”<\/p>\n
Cotonsport host Sudan’s Al Hilal on Friday in Match Day three of the competition.<\/p>\n
Hilal came to the fixture at the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua on second spot in Group B while Cotonsport are bottom with no point but hoping to make it a contest and get the points to relaunch their season in the competition.<\/p>\n
