The indomitable lionesses of Cameroon have beaten Thailand 2-0, at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers playoffs ongoing in New Zealand.<\/p>\n

The game was played at the Waikato Stadium, Hamilton, on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

Forward Gabriel Aboudi Onguene came off the bench and scored twice, to secure a big win for the indomitable lionesses, who will now face Portugal in the decisive game.<\/p>\n

Michaela Abam and Nchout Njoya Ajara wasted glaring chances in the early segments of the game. On the other side, goalkeeper Ange Bawou was kept busy, but did well to thwart away Thailand’s offensive.<\/p>\n

Midfielder Charlene Meyong, hit the cross bar late in the first half, shortly before Michaela Abam squandered a glaring chance from close range.<\/p>\n

Gabriel Zabo’s side had much of the ball in the second half, with the left flank kept busy as Collette Ndzana provided the necessary supplies.<\/p>\n

It needed a VAR check to deny Cameroon a possible penalty at the 70th minute, when Abam’s shot appeared to have deflected off the hand of a Thai defender.<\/p>\n

Coach Gabriel Zabo made his first substitution of the game with just a quarter of an hour left to play, when Captain Gabriel Aboudi Onguene was brought in for Michaela Abam.<\/p>\n

Aboudi made an instant impact, as she was in the right place to tap in Ajara’s pass at the 80th minute, to put Cameroon in front.<\/p>\n

Aboudi made it 2-0 at the 82nd minute, finishing off a swift counter attack for the indomitable lionesses.<\/p>\n

Coach Zabo Strengthened his midfield by bringing in Claudia Dabda and Ngo Mbeleck Genevi\u00e8ve, in the place of Ngock Monique and Charlene Meyong.<\/p>\n

Tatiana Ewodo Ekogo finished the game at goal for Cameroon<\/p><\/div>\n

Cameroon was reduced to 10, after goalkeeper Ange Bawou was show red card deep in added time. Forward Tatiana Ewodo Ekogo finished the game at goal, after coach Zabo had already exploited all his substitutions.<\/p>\n

There was no panic for the Lionesses, as they won 2-0, to set up a final game against Portugal on February 22. The winner of the game will secure one of the three tickets for the 2023 FIFA Women’s world cup to be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand in July and August this year.<\/p>\n
