The race for supremacy on Cameroon\u2019s coastline has officially been raised to another level, with the organising committee of Battle of the Seas II announcing a record-breaking first prize of XAF 2.25 million for the winner of this year\u2019s canoe race.<\/p>\n

The announcement came during a crucial meeting held this weekend in Limbe, and chaired by Njalla Quan Jnr, as representatives of the participating coastal communities gathered to review, discuss and adopt the official rules and regulations for the second edition of the competition.<\/p>\n

At the centre of the discussions was the prize structure for what organisers describe as one of the most anticipated and lucrative canoe races in Cameroon. The committee confirmed that the winning community will take home XAF 2,250,000, alongside a trophy, 50 gold medals and 50 specially branded \u201cKing of the Seas\u201d T-shirts.<\/p>\n

The runners-up will also receive substantial rewards. The team finishing second will pocket XAF 1,250,000 and 50 silver medals, while the third-placed community will earn XAF 1,000,000 and 50 bronze medals.<\/p>\n

The committee also revealed that the prize purse could increase further, with several sponsorship agreements still under negotiation. That possibility could push the financial rewards beyond the already record-breaking figures announced for Season II.<\/p>\n

The meeting effectively sets the stage for another major coastal showdown, with communities including Bimbia, Botaland, Deido, Mondoli and Wovia preparing to battle it out on the waters. Beyond the cash prizes, the competition is expected to showcase the rich maritime traditions, culture and sporting spirit of Cameroon\u2019s coastal communities.<\/p>\n

The second edition of Battle of the Seas is scheduled for Saturday, December 12, 2026, at Down Beach in Limbe, with the big question now becoming: which community will conquer the waves and be crowned the King of the Seas?<\/p>\n
