Cameroon have received a major boost ahead of the knockout phase of the 2026 Women\u2019s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after medical examinations confirmed that star forward Marie Gis\u00e8le Ngah Manga did not suffer a serious ankle injury during Sunday\u2019s victory over Ghana.<\/p>\n
The prolific striker, who has scored three goals in two matches at the tournament, was forced off in the 70th minute after picking up an ankle injury in the Lionesses\u2019 hard-fought 1-0 victory over the Black Queens.<\/p>\n
Ngah Manga\u2019s winner secured Cameroon\u2019s place in the quarter-finals, but her early exit raised fears that the Indomitable Lionesses could lose one of their most influential players at a crucial stage of the competition.<\/p>\n
Those concerns have now been eased.<\/p>\n
According to Ecosant\u00e9, which conducted the interview, Cameroon Women\u2019s National Team Press Officer Jean Marie Nkoussa confirmed that the striker\u2019s injury is not serious and that she is expected to return for the remainder of the tournament.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe medical examinations carried out on Marie Gis\u00e8le Ngah Manga revealed nothing serious. It was more of a scare than anything else. The player is responding well to treatment and will be available to play the upcoming matches with her teammates,\u201d Nkoussa told Ecosant\u00e9.<\/p>\n
The update comes as a major relief for head coach Valentine Nguele and the entire Cameroon camp, with Ngah Manga currently leading the scoring charts after netting three goals in the opening two group matches.<\/p>\n
Her availability significantly strengthens Cameroon\u2019s hopes of making a deep run in Morocco as the Indomitable Lionesses continue their quest for a first Women\u2019s Africa Cup of Nations title.<\/p>\n
