Ghana walked away with a point and a statement today against heavyweight England, a game that was far from a boring stalemate as Ghana\u2019s backline plus midfield block was organized, disciplined and physical.<\/p>\n

The Group L clash of the 2026 FIFA World Cup staged in Boston, was equally marked by several missed chances from both sides who wasted efforts in front of goal to latter settle for a point, as well as a standout goalkeeping display from Benjamin Asare who denied England\u2019s 19 shots at goal.<\/p>\n

The Black Stars came out with a few attacking intent having chose a more defensive approach. While The world saw a more contrasting England performance to the one they gave against Croatia.<\/p>\n

Bukayo Saka forced a smart save from Asare with a low left-footed strike from outside the box following a headed pass from his Arsenal teammate Declan Rice at the 86th minute.<\/p>\n

Just one minute later, England looked more threatening when O’Reilly attempted but crashed his header against the crossbar. The rebound presented a golden opportunity for Kane but his shot was squandered.<\/p>\n

With the expertise of experienced Thomas Partey, the match was tightly contested in midfield. But while Ghana put up a more defensive display, Semenyo, Skipper Jordan Ayew and substitute Prince Adu, made efforts upfront but on several occasions saw their efforts wasteful.<\/p>\n

Thomas Tuchel visibly shocked at the results after fielding in his best attacking options, introduced the Marcus Rashford, Eberechi Eze and Morgan Rogers hoping for a breakthrough but still couldn\u2019t break down a compact, confident Ghana team.<\/p>\n

For the fourth time in a row, England have now drawn their second group match in a major men\u2019s tournament, Three of which ended 0-0; Two Euro and two World Cup matches.<\/p>\n

England still haven\u2019t won all their group games at a major tournament since the 1982 World Cup first group stage.<\/p>\n

Ghana\u2019s point against a top ranked team is massive for confidence especially after outsmarting Panama in their first game. At this point, knockout round is very possible, but Carlos Quieroz and his boys must they must take advantage of the last group game against Croatia.<\/p>\n
