{"id":28938,"date":"2026-06-17T06:13:53","date_gmt":"2026-06-17T06:13:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kick442.com\/?p=28938"},"modified":"2026-06-17T06:13:53","modified_gmt":"2026-06-17T06:13:53","slug":"tunisia-turn-to-renard-as-lamouchi-departs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kick442.com\/fr\/tunisia-turn-to-renard-as-lamouchi-departs\/","title":{"rendered":"Tunisia Turn to Renard as Lamouchi Departs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Angu Lesley<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Football writer kick442.com &#8211; Cameroon<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tunisia have officially appointed French coach Herv\u00e9 Renard as head coach until the end of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, replacing Sabri Lamouchi following the Carthage Eagles\u2019 disappointing start to the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Lamouchi leaves the role after Tunisia suffered back-to-back heavy defeats, losing 5-0 to Belgium in an international friendly before being beaten 5-1 by Sweden in their opening World Cup match. The results brought an end to his tenure, with the Tunisian Football Federation moving quickly to bring in an experienced replacement.<\/p>\n<p>Renard returns to African football with a wealth of experience on the continent. The 57-year-old has previously managed Zambia, Angola, C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire, Morocco and Ghana, building a reputation as one of Africa\u2019s most successful foreign coaches.<\/p>\n<p>His greatest achievements came when he guided Zambia to a historic 2012 Africa Cup of Nations triumph before winning the continental crown again with C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire in 2015. Renard also enjoyed a memorable spell with Saudi Arabia, leading the Asian side to a famous 2-1 victory over eventual champions Argentina at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>The Frenchman has also managed Sochaux and the French women\u2019s national team during his coaching career.<\/p>\n<p>With Tunisia now under pressure after their heavy defeat to Sweden, Renard\u2019s arrival will bring renewed hope that the Eagles of Carthage can revive their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Angu Lesley Football writer kick442.com &#8211;
