The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has instituted a four-match behind closed doors bam on Tunisian giants Esperance of Tunis.<\/p>\n
The decision was communicated to the club officials by the disciplinary committee of Africa’s flagship football body this Tuesday after it found fans of the club guilty of breaching safety and security guidelines of it’s competitions during the CAF Champions League semi-final last year against Al Ahly.<\/p>\n
According the letter sent to the club, Esperance will play their next four interclub matches without their fans as a prize for the late start of last year’s champions league semi-final.<\/p>\n
Exchanges between Esperance fans and the law enforcement officials propagated an unpleasant scenario that led to the disruption of Al Ahly\u2019s training session on the turf before further unpleasant events occurred on match day.<\/p>\n
It took the use of teargas to disperse the Esperance fans that night on the outskirts of Tunis.<\/p>\n
CAF has hence thrown it’s sledgehammer on the club. In addition to the punishment of playing behind closed doors, the club has been charged with a fine of $60,000.<\/p>\n
Al Ahly equally beat Esperance of Tunis 3-0 in the return leg game to add to the 1-0 win in Tunis to make a 4-0 aggregate win in that semi-final.<\/p>\n
Esperance will have to be without the Rades fans and more through out the group stages of the upcoming CAF Champions League season.<\/p>\n
