The 2025 Cameroon Men\u2019s Super Cup between Colombe du Dja et Lobo and Panth\u00e8re du Nd\u00e9 ended in dramatic fashion after Colombe walked off the pitch, forcing the match to be abandoned at the Ngoa-Ekelle Stadium.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Although traditionally staged as a symbolic clash between league champions and Cup winners, this edition was played after the domestic season had already kicked off, effectively making it more of a courtesy fixture than an official season opener. Nevertheless, the encounter carried prestige, with Colombe entering as reigning MTN Elite One champions and defending Super Cup holders, while Panth\u00e8re arrived as Cup of Cameroon winners.<\/p>\n

Colombe struck early, taking the lead in just the 2nd minute through Bayebahe Lima Steve. Panth\u00e8re responded with greater attacking intent and eventually drew level in the 66th minute when Georges Mbarga Atedzoe converted from the penalty spot to make it 1-1.<\/p>\n

The penalty decision proved to be the flashpoint of the match. Colombe players strongly disputed the award, arguing that the call was unjust. Despite initial protests, they briefly resumed play. However, following consultations among the officiating team, the referee produced a straight red card for Colombe captain Randy Ntube Kwalar, a decision that further heightened tensions.<\/p>\n

Feeling doubly aggrieved by both the penalty and the dismissal of their skipper, Colombe\u2019s players stopped competing around the 69th minute before walking off the pitch entirely in the 70th minute. Match officials allowed time to elapse before officially terminating the game at the 90th minute.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred in the presence of FECAFOOT president Samuel Eto\u2019o, adding further significance to the controversy. Even though the new season is already underway, the abandonment of a high-profile Super Cup fixture has once again placed refereeing standards and match management under scrutiny.<\/p>\n

Earlier that same day, officiating complaints had surfaced in a separate domestic clash involving Canon Yaound\u00e9 and Coton Sport, intensifying debate around refereeing consistency.<\/p>\n

Attention now turns to the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) for a homologation decision. Colombe could face disciplinary sanctions for abandoning the match, while the referee\u2019s decisions may also come under review. Authorities must determine whether the Super Cup will be awarded by default, replayed, or settled administratively.<\/p>\n

While it was only a courtesy cup fixture and not a season-defining contest, the dramatic ending has nevertheless sparked fresh conversation about officiating credibility and governance within Cameroonian football.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
