Nigeria\u2019s Super Falcons will renew their fierce rivalry with Cameroon\u2019s Indomitable Lionesses in two high-profile international friendlies in Yaound\u00e9 later this month, as both sides fine-tune preparations for the upcoming Women\u2019s Africa Cup of Nations.<\/p>\n

The 10-time African champions are scheduled to face Cameroon on 28 February and 3 March 2026 during the FIFA international window, with both matches set to take place in the Cameroonian capital. The double-header offers a timely test for two of the continent\u2019s most competitive women\u2019s national teams ahead of the 13th edition of the Women\u2019s AFCON in Morocco, which runs from 17 March to 3 April 2026.<\/p>\n

For the Nigeria women\u2019s national football team, the fixtures represent an opportunity to sharpen tactics and build cohesion as they chase a record-extending continental crown. Nigeria remain the most successful side in the history of the competition and will be keen to send an early statement of intent before heading to North Africa.<\/p>\n

Their hosts, the Cameroon women\u2019s national football team, will also see the friendlies as a valuable gauge of their readiness. Backed by home support in Yaound\u00e9, Cameroon will be determined to measure themselves against the continent\u2019s benchmark and fine-tune combinations in key areas of the pitch.<\/p>\n

Encounters between the two West and Central African powerhouses have often been intense and closely contested, with pride and regional supremacy always at stake. Beyond preparation, the matches are expected to rekindle one of African women\u2019s football\u2019s most compelling rivalries.<\/p>\n

With just weeks separating the friendlies from kickoff at the continental tournament, both technical benches are likely to use the games to assess squad depth, test formations and solidify match fitness. For players on the fringes of selection, the ties could prove decisive in securing a place in their respective AFCON squads.<\/p>\n
