{"id":27309,"date":"2026-01-31T18:42:04","date_gmt":"2026-01-31T18:42:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kick442.com\/?p=27309"},"modified":"2026-01-31T18:42:04","modified_gmt":"2026-01-31T18:42:04","slug":"mtnelite-two-union-astres-share-spoils-in-season-opener","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kick442.com\/fr\/mtnelite-two-union-astres-share-spoils-in-season-opener\/","title":{"rendered":"MTNElite Two: Union, Astres share spoils in Season opener"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Eyong Macdella<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sports Journalist,kick442.com-Cameroon<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>In an encounter that counted for pride and the urge to confirm their rise in form, Union and Astres proved no side was the better one as points were shared following a one all tie.<\/p>\n<p>Atangana drew first blood 12 minutes into the game benefitting from a fine back pass to outsmart Astres\u2019 keeper.<\/p>\n<p>Astres responded at the 50th minute, courtesy of a goal from Ginola Tchoyi who finished from an Ahmed Shepey miss.<\/p>\n<p>Astres had another clearing opportunity to take the lead but JC 31\u2019s attempt on target was beautifully saved by goalkeeper Wamba.<\/p>\n<p>The pressure of commanding the game after taking an early lead, forced coach Bonaventure Djonkep to make a triple substitution and his opponent coach Gabriel Zabo, a double Sub on.<\/p>\n<p>However, the efforts from both teams who put up a good challenge against each other, yielded no more fruits, bringing the matchday one encounter to an end on a 1-1 scoreline.<\/p>\n<p>Union goes into matchday two with a point, hoping to continue on good footing after the setback of finishing second-to-the-last the previous season and suffering relegation for the first time since they became an Elite one club(30years ago)<\/p>\n<p>Les Astres football club of Douala finished in a better position than Union last season but unfortunately not out of the danger zone.
