Cameroon\u2019s Lions Indomptables have been drawn into a competitive group for the newly expanded 2026 FIFA Series, the world governing body announced on Monday.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The friendly international tournament, designed to give more national teams regular competitive matches, has been significantly enlarged for its second edition and will feature 48 men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams from the six FIFA confederations in March and April 2026.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Cameroon\u2019s group will be hosted by Australia, and also includes China PR and Cura\u00e7ao. All four teams are expected to play each other once during the March\u2013April international window, with final dates and venues yet to be confirmed.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
FIFA says the larger format aims to broaden international competition beyond the usual qualifying fixtures, offering smaller and mid\u2011ranked nations more fixtures against a wider range of opponents. The governing body is also funding travel, accommodation and logistical support for participating teams.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The expanded event will take place in 11 host countries, with matches broadcast globally to increase exposure for nations competing outside of major tournaments.<\/p>\n

FIFA introduced the Series as part of its strategy to promote international competition and player development, particularly for teams that traditionally have fewer high\u2011profile fixtures. Organisers hope the initiative will help raise standards ahead of continental qualification campaigns and future World Cups.<\/p>\n

For Cameroon, the Series represents an opportunity to test its squad under tournament conditions against international opposition from Asia, Oceania and the Caribbean \u2014 giving manager and fans valuable insight ahead of more significant competitive assignments later in the year.
