Cameroon secured qualification for the quarter-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2025 after a hard-fought 2\u20131 victory over South Africa in their Round of 16 encounter.<\/p>\n

The Indomitable Lions controlled large periods of the contest and were rewarded in the 34th minute when Junior Tchamadeu opened the scoring with a composed finish following sustained pressure in the South African half. Cameroon carried that advantage into the break before striking again early in the second half.<\/p>\n

Just two minutes after the restart, Christian Kofane doubled Cameroon\u2019s lead in the 47th minute. The goal proved decisive once again, mirroring his match-winning impact against Mozambique earlier in the tournament, and underlined his growing importance as a reliable finisher for the Indomitable Lions in crucial moments.<\/p>\n

South Africa remained competitive and created several opportunities, but their wastefulness in front of goal and a string of brilliant saves from Cameroon goalkeeper D\u00e9vis Epassy kept the Bafana Bafana at bay. A late strike from Evidence Makgopa in the 88th minute reduced the deficit, but Cameroon\u2019s defence, led by the composed Epassy, held firm to secure the win.<\/p>\n

The 2\u20131 result sees Cameroon progress to the quarter-finals, where they will face Morocco, who earlier in the day defeated Tanzania 1\u20130.
