The decision brings on board one of the country\u2019s most technically gifted midfielders of his generation \u2014 a perfect match for a discipline built on skill, intelligence and quick execution.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Makoun carved out an illustrious career spanning almost two decades, featuring for top clubs such as Lille, Olympique Lyonnais, Aston Villa, and Olympiacos, while earning over 60 caps for the Indomitable Lions. Known for his exceptional ball mastery, vision, positional sharpness and his ability to control tempo under pressure, he stood out as one of Cameroon\u2019s most refined midfielders. Those attributes mirror the essence of Football 7, where agility, close control and rapid transitions are fundamental.<\/p>\n<p>AFC7 President Bamnga Jacques expressed confidence that Makoun\u2019s pedigree and understanding of the African football landscape would be instrumental in driving the sport forward:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe welcome Mr. Makoun and are confident in his ability to drive the growth of Football 7 across the continent.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Makoun\u2019s first assignment as ambassador will take him to Morocco this week, where he is expected to feature in a high-profile seven-aside exhibition match designed to showcase the discipline\u2019s dynamism and growing appeal.<\/p>\n<p>Football 7 \u2014 or seven-aside \u2014 is a condensed, high-tempo version of the game, played on smaller pitches with shorter halves. The format highlights technique, creativity in tight spaces, fast decision-making and fluid attacking sequences.
