Harouna Doula Gabde, the man charged with inspiring the Menas of Niger to an upset result against 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN) semi finalist – Cameroon says pressure is on the central Africans ahead of in their next Group E game of the 2022 event at the Miloud Hadefi stadium in Oran.<\/p>\n
Niger with a point from one game clash with the Intermediate Indomitable Lions on Tuesday in a winner-takes-it-all fixture in a tight Group from which only one team can advance to the quarter-final of the seventh edition of the tournament.<\/p>\n
Ahead of the tournament Doula who was at the 2020 edition of the tournament reserved for players plying their trade in their domestic league and masterminded his country’s 2-1 win over Cameroon in a pre-tournament friendly in Yaounde, Cameroon says his side is unfazed by the fact that his opponents lead the group.<\/p>\n
“Cameroon have pressure because of their result in the first game (1-0 win),” Doula stated before revealing they had a joker to capitalize on: \u201cWe saw the mistakes Cameroon made when they were under pressure against Congo. We shall draw some inspiration.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a final before the final. It is a decisive match for us,” Doula counting on the huge presence of Cameroon fans said before adding the Group E leaders have an edge but not necessarily the qualification ticket; “Cameroon have an advantage in this match, but we want to do well in this competition. We were shy against Congo because of the level of the tournament. We shall try to be more expressive and to create more chances,” Doula seeking his nation’s second CHAN knock-out berth in four participation concluded.<\/p>\n
Niger who failed to shot on target in the entire 90 minutes against Congo in their opener will have Cameroon’s wing wizard and scorer against Congo Jerome Ngom Mbeleki to contain with.<\/p>\n
The Menas look to end a run of six games without scoring, and also prevent Cameroon from reaching a third quarter-final in five appearances. If Niger pulls the upset it will mean only the second group stage exit for Cameroon since Rigobert Song’s team of 2018 achieved the unwanted feat in Morocco.<\/p>\n
Cameroon currently lead the group with three points from one game. They need at least a draw to reach the quarter-final in consecutive editions of the tournament.<\/p>\n
The 8:00PM kick off fixture at the Miloud Hadefi stadium in Oran, Algeria will determine which of the two nations progress to the last eight in the tricky group. Congo who were a part of the group were eliminated last week, after they could only get a point from two games in which they even failed to score.<\/p>\n
