Egypt will once again take centre stage in African women\u2019s club football as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirms the North African nation as host of the 2025 CAF Women\u2019s Champions League, scheduled from 8 to 21 November 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The announcement, made on Friday, ends weeks of speculation over which country would host the continent\u2019s premier women\u2019s club competition. The final draw<\/strong> will be held on Monday, 27 October 2025<\/strong>, at CAF headquarters in Cairo<\/strong> starting at 13h00 local time (10h00 GMT)<\/strong> \u2014 marking the first major event in the lead-up to the highly anticipated tournament.<\/p>\n

It will be the second time Egypt hosts the CAF Women\u2019s Champions League<\/strong>, following the success of the inaugural edition in 2021, which laid the foundation for the professionalisation of women\u2019s club football across Africa.<\/p>\n

Powerhouses and debutants headline the field<\/h3>\n

This year\u2019s tournament will feature eight teams<\/strong>, representing CAF\u2019s six zonal unions along with the host nation\u2019s club and the defending champions.<\/p>\n

  • COSAFA (Southern Africa):<\/strong> Gaborone United Ladies (Botswana)<\/li>\n

    In accordance with competition regulations, FC Masar<\/strong> and TP Mazembe<\/strong> will be placed as top seeds<\/strong> in Groups A and B respectively \u2014 a move that ensures balance and competitiveness in the draw.<\/p>\n

    Sarah Essam to headline the draw ceremony<\/h3>\n

    Adding glamour to the occasion, Sarah Essam<\/strong>, Egypt\u2019s trailblazing international footballer, will conduct the draw. The 25-year-old \u2014 who became the first Arab woman to play professional football in England and Spain<\/strong> \u2014 continues to be a symbol of inspiration for women across the continent.<\/p>\n

    Essam, who featured as an Official FIFA World Cup Ambassador<\/strong> in 2022, now plays for Halifax Women FC<\/strong> in England while representing Egypt\u2019s national team<\/strong>.
