Cameroon head coach Jean-Baptiste Bisseck says his players are fully aware of the stakes as the Indomitable Lionesses prepare to face Algeria in the first leg of their 2026 CAF Women\u2019s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier this Thursday in Oran.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The crucial encounter at the Stade Miloud Hadefi kicks off at 7PM (GMT+1), with Cameroon determined to take a major step towards returning to the continental showpiece after the disappointment of missing the last edition.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe players know what\u2019s at stake\u201d<\/h3>\n

Speaking on the eve of the match, Bisseck underlined the hunger and determination driving his squad.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe players are conscious that it’s a crucial game,\u201d the Cameroonian coach said. \u201cThey missed the last WAFCON; it’s a big motivation right now because they do not want it to happen again. It’s an experienced group and it will be a plus for us tomorrow.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

His remarks reflect a collective desire to make amends after Cameroon\u2019s shock absence from the 2024 WAFCON in Morocco \u2014 the first time the Lionesses failed to qualify since their debut in 1998.<\/p>\n

Bisseck\u2019s squad blends experienced internationals and emerging talents. Captain Gabrielle Aboudi Ongu\u00e9n\u00e9<\/strong> (CSKA Moscow) and striker Nchout Njoya Ajara<\/strong> headline the attack, while Falone Meffoumettou<\/strong>, Toko Njoya<\/strong> (Real Madrid CF), and returning goalkeeper Michaely Biyina<\/strong> add defensive stability and composure.<\/p>\n

The coach believes this mix of leadership and youthful energy could be decisive against a disciplined Algerian side expected to draw confidence from home support.<\/p>\n
