Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang delivered a masterclass with all four goals for Gabon \u2014 and was sent off late \u2014 as the Panthers edged Gambia 4\u20133 in a pulsating seven-goal thriller that keeps their 2026 FIFA World Cup hopes alive going into the final day.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a topsy-turvy contest in Brikama, the lead changed hands multiple times, but it was Gabon who emerged victorious \u2014 inspired by their 36-year-old captain \u2014 to remain one point behind Group F leaders C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire.<\/p>\n

Aubameyang\u2019s night, however, ended in frustration after he was shown a second yellow card in the 86th minute, meaning he will miss Gabon\u2019s final qualifier against Seychelles.<\/p>\n

How the Drama Unfolded<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Contrary to what the scoreline may suggest, Gabon were never in full control.<\/p>\n

  • Gabon<\/strong> took the lead early through Aubameyang (20\u2032), but Gambia struck back just before half-time via Musa Barrow (45+2\u2032), making it 1\u20131 at the break.<\/li>\n
  • The Scorpions came flying out in the second half \u2014 Alieu Fadera<\/strong> (47\u2032) put them ahead, before Barrow<\/strong> grabbed his second in the 55th to make it 3\u20131<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  • Gabon looked stunned \u2014 but their talisman wasn\u2019t done. Aubameyang completed his hat-trick<\/strong> with goals in the 62nd and 78th minutes, levelling and then putting Gabon back in front for good.<\/li>\n
  • The drama didn\u2019t stop there. With Gabon trying to see the game out, Aubameyang was sent off for a second bookable offence \u2014 but Gambia couldn\u2019t capitalise.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
