No, I don\u2019t think so,\u201d Onana said. \u201cThomas Nkono remains one of the best in our country, on the continent, and in the world. Already comparing myself or putting my name next to Thomas is something exceptional. But I don\u2019t think I have the level and quality of Thomas, who has done many good things for our country.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Onana, 29, added that his focus remains on enjoying football and representing Cameroon with pride.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI\u2019m just trying to make a living, play football, and enjoy my time with family and friends,\u201d he continued.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Nkono, a two-time African Footballer of the Year, earned over 100 caps for Cameroon and was a key figure in their memorable 1982 and 1990 World Cup campaigns. His influence inspired a generation of Cameroonian goalkeepers \u2014 including Onana himself, who has often spoken of idolising the former Espanyol and Canon Yaound\u00e9 star.<\/p>\n<p>Since returning to international duty under coach <strong>Marc Brys<\/strong>, Onana has re-established himself as Cameroon\u2019s undisputed No.1, captaining the side and delivering a series of commanding performances in the qualifiers.<\/p>\n<p>The Indomitable Lions, who are still chasing qualification for the <strong>2026 FIFA World Cup<\/strong>, will next be in action when they <strong>host Angola on 13 October<\/strong> in Yaound\u00e9.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Copyright\u00a92025 kick442.com-Cameroon<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>All rights reserved.
