Cameroon will face Mauritius on the road on Wednesday knowing that nothing less than victory will do if they are to keep their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification hopes alive.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Indomitable Lions sit second in Group D, four points behind leaders Cape Verde, and with only two matches left, Marc Brys\u2019s men can ill afford any slip-ups against one of the group\u2019s lowest-ranked sides.<\/p>\n

Cameroon Chasing Consistency<\/em><\/p>\n

Cameroon have had a steady but sometimes frustrating campaign \u2014 losing once in their last four matches, but dropping points away to Eswatini, Angola and losing to Cape Verde\u00a0 have left them chasing the group leaders.<\/p>\n

A commanding 3\u20130 win over Mauritius in Yaound\u00e9 earlier in the qualifiers showcased their superiority, but away form remains a concern, with Brys\u2019s side often struggling to turn dominance into goals.<\/p>\n

Captain Vincent Aboubakar remains central to their attack, having scored four goals in this campaign, while Premier League winger Bryan Mbeumo has added pace and creativity from wide areas.<\/p>\n

Brys is expected to stick with his 4-3-3 system, anchored by Frank Anguissa in midfield, as Cameroon look to control possession and press high from the start.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cWe respect Mauritius, but our objective is clear \u2014 we must win,\u201d Brys said. \u201cQualification is in our hands if we take care of our matches.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Mauritius Looking for a Famous Result<\/em><\/p>\n

For Mauritius, this fixture represents both a test and an opportunity. The Club M are already out of contention for qualification, but coach Ashok Chundunsing has urged his side to make a statement against one of Africa\u2019s giants.<\/p>\n

They have won only once in the group \u2014 a 2\u20131 victory over Eswatini \u2014 but home support in Saint Pierre could give them a boost.<\/p>\n

Mauritius are expected to defend deep, often using a 5-4-1 setup, hoping to frustrate Cameroon and strike on the counter through Kevin Perticots and William Fran\u00e7ois.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cWe know Cameroon\u2019s quality,\u201d Chundunsing said. \u201cBut we\u2019ll fight for every ball. Our fans deserve to see courage.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Cameroon need a win to stay within touching distance of Cape Verde, who host Libya on the same day. Anything less, and their path to automatic qualification becomes far more complicated.<\/p>\n

Mauritius, meanwhile, will be playing for pride and progress, seeking to avoid finishing bottom of the group and build momentum ahead of next year\u2019s AFCON qualifiers.<\/p>\n
