Rising Cameroonian forward Angel Yondjo Matam continued his impressive scoring form in the French lower division over the weekend, finding the net for Lille\u2019s reserve team despite their 1\u20132 defeat away to Metz.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 18-year-old striker, who joined Lille last summer, was the lone scorer for his side in Sunday\u2019s encounter. Although his goal couldn\u2019t prevent defeat against a more experienced Metz outfit, Yondjo\u2019s performance once again underlined his growing reputation as one of Cameroon\u2019s most promising young talents.<\/p>\n

Having signed a five-year contract with Lille, Yondjo is currently honing his skills within the club\u2019s youth setup as he adapts to life in France.<\/p>\n

Club sources indicate that the youngster is being carefully developed for a gradual promotion to the Lille first team, a pathway similar to that of his compatriot Carlos Baleba, who also rose through Lille\u2019s ranks before securing a move to Brighton & Hove Albion in the English Premier League.<\/p>\n

Back home, Yondjo is already a familiar name among football fans. A prolific scorer in domestic youth competitions, he earned widespread recognition after winning the Golden Boot at the Under-17 Youth Tournament in Limbe in January 2022. His international r\u00e9sum\u00e9 is equally impressive, having represented Cameroon at U-15, U-17, U-20, and intermediate levels.<\/p>\n

Yondjo also scored on his debut for Cameroon\u2019s intermediate national team during their 2\u20131 loss to the Central African Republic in the CHAN 2025 qualifiers, further showcasing his natural eye for goal.<\/p>\n

With his steady progress in France, many observers believe it\u2019s only a matter of time before Angel Yondjo Matam breaks into Lille\u2019s senior squad \u2014 and perhaps becomes the next Cameroonian star to make waves across Europe.<\/p>\n
