The highly anticipated Women’s Champions League Malabo 2025 Zonal Tournament is just around the corner, with the draw and tournament schedule set to take place in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This will ultimately serve as a qualifying module for the TotalEnergies 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League, with the zone boasting the presence of the reigning champions, TP Mazembe Ladies.<\/p>\n

The general meeting and official draw is scheduled for Friday, September 15, 2025. Five top-notch teams from across the region will clash in a round-robin format, each vying for supremacy.<\/p>\n

Participating Teams and Their Designations<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The participating teams have been officially designated as follows: the host country, Equatorial Guinea, has been automatically assigned the designation A1 and will be represented by 15 Agosto de Akonibe Femenino. The other participating teams are Football Acad\u00e9mie M\u2019SICHANA from the DRC (A2), FC Ebolowa Filles from Cameroon (A3), Tout Puissant Elect-Sport F\u00e9minin de Ndjamena from Chad (A4), and Amical Club Colombe from Congo (A5).<\/p>\n

Tournament Schedule and Dates<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The delegations of the participating teams are expected to arrive in Malabo between September 11 and 15, 2025. A draw rehearsal already took place on September 12, 2025, and will be followed by the general meeting and official draw on September 15, 2025.<\/p>\n

Match Days and Fixtures<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The match days are scheduled as follows:<\/p>\n

– Match Day 1: September 17, 2025 (A1 vs. A4 and A2 vs. A3)
\n– Match Day 2: September 20, 2025 (A3 vs. A1 and A5 vs. A2)
\n– Match Day 3: September 23, 2025 (A1 vs. A5 and A4 vs. A3)
\n– Match Day 4: September 26, 2025 (A5 vs. A3 and A2 vs. A4)
\n– Match Day 5: September 29, 2025 (A1 vs. A2 and A4 vs. A5)<\/p>\n

The zonal qualifiers have a rich history, with the first edition taking place in 2021. Maloba Kings represented UNIFFAC in that inaugural year. TP Mazembe went on to represent the region twice – in 2022 ahead of AS AWA and in 2024 ahead of Lekie Football Filles. In 2023, Hurricanes made a surprise appearance as the zone’s representative. This year marks the 5th edition of the qualifiers.<\/p>\n

The Journey of UNIFFAC Representatives in the CAF Women’s Champions League<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The UNIFFAC region has had a varied journey in the CAF Women’s Champions League. Malabo Kings, the 2021 UNIFFAC representatives, valiantly navigated a tough Group A and finished as runners-up. Although they lost to the eventual winners, Sundowns Ladies, in the quarterfinals (5-4 on post-match penalties), their performance was a testament to the region’s potential.<\/p>\n

In 2022, TP Mazembe missed out on the knockout stage after finishing third in Group B with three points, falling behind Sundowns Ladies and Bayelsa Queens.<\/p>\n

A Wake-Up Call before Redemption<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Hurricanes, the 2023 zonal UNIFFAC representatives, faced a tough Group B, which included AS Mande, Ampem Darkoa, and AS FAR. Unfortunately, they finished at the bottom of the group, highlighting the need for improvement.<\/p>\n

2024: A Historic Redemption<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

TP Mazembe made history by winning the CAF Women’s Champions League title, defeating AS FAR 1-0 in the final held at the Ben M’Hamed El Abdi Stadium in El Jadida, Morocco. This victory marked a redemption year for the UNIFFAC region and showcased the determination of its women’s football teams.<\/p>\n
