The head coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon has stated that his team is in Praia to get maximum points against a good Cape Verdi team and keep their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification hopes alive.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Belgian trainer looking to complete a double over the Blue Sharks and become the first Cameroon coach to beat them on home soil spoke extensively about the opponents pedigree and the importance of the match during the pre-match conference on Monday.<\/p>\n

“It’s a game between the first and second teams in the group. So we can’t take chances. That’s why I was angry because we didn’t train here on Sunday. We didn’t see that coming. It’s a pity!\u2026\u201cWe respect all teams the teams that we have to play against so it\u2019s not different, for Cabo Verde” Brys explained.<\/p>\n

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon step into the Stadium in Praia on Tuesday with more than just three points at stake. History has shown that the Cape Verdean capital is an unforgiving ground for the Lions, who have failed to secure a result in their last two trips to the Island.<\/p>\n

For head coach Marc Brys, still searching for consistency on the road, this clash could define his early tenure.<\/p>\n

Cameroon\u2019s record in Praia speaks for itself. In the AFCON 2013 qualifiers, Cape Verde beat Cameroon 2-0. Eight years later, in the AFCON 2021 qualifiers, the Blue Sharks once again prevailed with a 3-1 victory. Two defeats, five goals conceded, and just one scored, Praia has been nothing short of a nightmare for Cameroon.<\/p>\n

Yet Brys arrives in Cape Verde with momentum on his side. Since taking over as head coach, he has managed to keep the Indomitable Lions unbeaten in 13 matches across all competitions. That run has restored belief in the squad, but the Belgian tactician knows this trip presents a different level of difficulty. Maintaining his streak in Praia would be a statement of intent, both for his leadership and for Cameroon\u2019s ambitions on the road to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.<\/p>\n

“We won at home against Cape Verde but they are very good at home, plus they are top of the table. I think we need to be at our best to win.”<\/p>\n

The Indomitable Lions spirits are high, but the mission is clear: with at all costs. Victory against the Blue Sharks would not only erase bitter memories of past defeats but also push Cameroon back to the top of the group at the end of Matchday eight in the qualifiers.<\/p>\n
