Ita Mbong FC of Nkambe shot stopper Asonyu Shey Glory has expressed her excitement about being included in the Cameroon squad to prepare for their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Despite the challenges, Glory is making strides and could see the next big thing from Cameroon.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very happy for my call-up, it\u2019s a dream come true,\u201d beamed Asonyu Shey Glory moments after receiving the news of her first-ever senior Indomitable Lionesses selection.<\/p>\n

The Ita Mbong FC of Nkambe captain and goalkeeper, based in Nkambe, has long been a standout in the Guinness Super League. Known for her commanding presence and safe hands, she has produced multiple clean sheets and match-winning performance, including a memorable penalty save in stoppage time against Ornella Moluh (Vision Foot) that helped secure Ita Mbong\u2019s first victory of the season in Yaound\u00e9.<\/p>\n

When asked if she expected the call, Glory was honest but confident:<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t expect it, but I believe in myself that a day like this will one day come.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her heroics, such as the big win over Authentic Ladies and consistent top-tier saves, have made her a fan favorite. These displays earned her a nomination for Best Goalkeeper of the Season at the MTN Ballon d\u2019Or 2024, alongside Biya Cathy (\u00c9clair FF de Sa\u2019a) and Marthe Yolande Ongmahan (Leki\u00e9 Football Filles).<\/p>\n

Off the field, Glory\u2019s drive is just as impressive, graduating with a degree in Accounting through the TVEE in 2024 and serving as an inspiration to young athletes in her community.<\/p>\n

Previously part of the U20 Lionesses camp preparing for the 2026 FIFA Women\u2019s World Cup in Poland, this call-up marks a natural step in her rapid rise.<\/p>\n
