Despite having multifarious opportunities to score, the home based elephants of Ivory Coast lost in their opening game and return to the African Nations Championship, CHAN, by 0-1 against West African rivals Senegal. That result meant they must get better results in their next two outing to keep their chances of progressing to the quarter final during this first appearance since 2016.<\/p>\n
Ahead of their second group B fixture against the home based Leopards of DR Congo who also failed to win in Match day one, coach Souailo Haidara believes their equation is no longer as it was in the beginning.<\/p>\n
“We are in a difficult situation. The defeat against Senegal makes our competition more difficult. However that defeat teaches us. It will help us know the character of our team on Wednesday. Senegal is different from DRC. We will try to adapt and see how it goes,” the gaffer began.<\/p>\n
DR Congo were bookmakers favorite before the start of the competition and Souailo Haidara has analyzed their strength and weaknesses while hoping to make the most of the data gathered.<\/p>\n
“I will not tell you the strategies we will use tomorrow. We know DRC explores the wings in their style of play but we will do our best to counter that tomorrow as the game is crucial. The difference will be made in terms of the mobility of both teams,” the trainer who replaced Gouam\u00e9n\u00e9 Maxime last July continued.<\/p>\n
Souailo Haidara refused to uncover his full plans going into the fixture but hinted changes will be made in a bit to improve his team input in the final third.<\/p>\n
“I can’t sit here and tell you what I will do against DR Congo. We have strategies which our fans will discover tomorrow. There’s a difference between creating chances and scoring. Most of the best scorers are not the creator of chances. As I said earlier, there’s a sacrifice to be made at all levels. We had chances against Senegal, but didn’t make it. We will try to play players who will be calm in the final third.”<\/p>\n
The Ivory Coast meets DR Congo again at the center if the city of Annaba precisely at 19 May 1956 Stadium in Annaba when locals will be rushing home after work at 5PM.<\/p>\n
