Cameroonian goalkeeper Fabrice Ondoa has allegedly been summoned to repay a \u20ac20,000 loan he received in 2021 from Mr. Camille Just Choupo-Moting, the father of Indomitable Lions forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The summons, issued by a court bailiff in Yaound\u00e9, follows a protracted period of an alleged non-payment and what the claimant describes as \u201cfraudulent maneuvers\u201d to avoid repayment.<\/p>\n

According to the legal document dated June 28, 2025, the dispute began on June 8, 2021, when Ondoa allegedly convinced Mr. Choupo-Moting to lend him \u20ac20,000 under what the bailiff terms the \u201cbenevolent pressure\u201d of his son, Eric Maxim. A debt acknowledgment was drawn up between the parties, with a clear commitment by Ondoa to repay the sum by September 25, 2021.<\/p>\n

However, since the money was transferred, no repayment has been made.<\/p>\n

The bailiff\u2019s statement highlights multiple failed assurances from Ondoa. At one point, he promised to settle the debt in local currency 13,700,000 CFA francs, including agreed-upon interest , at the start of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations. But this new deadline also passed without payment.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe pleaded temporary difficulties and promised to repay the 13.7 million CFA francs at the beginning of AFCON 2022\u2026 however, he did not pay a single franc,\u201d the bailiff noted.<\/p>\n

In the years that followed, Mr. Choupo-Moting reportedly made repeated efforts to contact Ondoa. The document accuses Ondoa of changing phone numbers to avoid being reached, and of making \u201cfalse, hollow, and baseless promises.\u201d<\/p>\n

Two notable confrontations occurred , one in September 2023 during the Indomitable Lions\u2019 training camp in Garoua, and another in January 2024 during the AFCON tournament in C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire ,where the debt was again raised without resolution.<\/p>\n

Tensions reached a breaking point on June 28, 2025, when the bailiff alleges a serious threat:<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. Fabrice Ondoa threatened to kill him or have him shot if he dared to make yet another attempt to get him to repay his debt.\u201d<\/p>\n

This incident appears to have prompted the formal legal action. In the summons, Ondoa is given eight days from receipt of the notice to repay the 13.7 million CFA francs, including all damages and interest, or risk further legal proceedings. The bailiff concludes with a clear warning:<\/p>\n

\u201cFailure to do so\u2026 will immediately engage the legal responsibility of the debtor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Implications<\/em><\/p>\n

The case not only casts a shadow over Ondoa\u2019s public image but also reflects growing tensions behind the scenes of Cameroon\u2019s national team.<\/p>\n

Ondoa, once hailed for his performances during the 2017 AFCON triumph, has struggled to maintain a stable club career and now faces mounting personal and legal challenges.<\/p>\n

The 2017 AFCON winner is currently without a club as his contract with FK RFS,Latvian football club based in Riga expired on July 1,2025.<\/p>\n

Also, the keeper who made his return to the national team during the tenure of Rigobert Song is yet to be called under new head coach Marc Brys.<\/p>\n

Neither Ondoa nor the Choupo-Moting family has issued a public response. However, if the matter proceeds to court, it could carry serious consequences for Ondoa, both legally and reputational.<\/p>\n
