Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi could officially face trial on rape charges, following a request filed by the Nanterre public prosecutor’s office, French newspaper Le Parisien reported on Thursday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is happening at a time the former Real Madrid and Dortmund defender is in the form of his life and a serious contender for the Ballon d’Or.<\/p>\n

Per sources, the case dates back to February 2023, when a 24-year-old woman accused Hakimi of raping her in his apartment after a meeting arranged when they connected on Instagram.<\/p>\n

In December of that year, during a confrontation with authorities, she reaffirmed her version of events.<\/p>\n

According to the woman, Hakimi “kissed her on the mouth and breasts through her clothes, without her consent”, as Le Parisien put it.<\/p>\n

“She protested to the player, but he continued to touch her until she was raped. After a forced embrace, she allegedly managed to push the player away with her foot before leaving the scene. Shocked, she reportedly sent a text message to a friend asking her to come and get her.<\/p>\n

The same day, she reported the incident to a police station, without initially lodging a complaint. As soon as this was done, the Moroccan full-back was charged with rape on 3 March 2023.<\/p>\n

Following the police custody, a judicial investigation was opened by the public prosecutor’s office, and the player was placed under judicial supervision.<\/p>\n

During the investigation “The friend confirmed the alleged victim’s words and condition to the police.”<\/p>\n

Hakimi has categorically denied the allegations, calling them false and part of an attempt to extort money.<\/p>\n

The player’s legal representatives have expressed their conviction of his innocence and have called the process “fueled by speculation and misunderstandings.”<\/p>\n
