Cameroon\u2019s intermediate Lions’ winger, Jerome Ngom Mbekeli was unplayable in his side’s 1-0 win over Congo on Monday in the first group E game of the 2022 CHAN tournament in Algeria.<\/p>\n
Enjoying arguably the best season of his career, Ngom scored to inspire the local lions to victory against neighbors Congo.<\/p>\n
The Colombe of Dja and Lobo player tormented the Congolese defense for over an hour before a 63rd minute header saw him open his account for fatherland.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy sole aim was to bring energy and pace into our attack line and I did just that. I am privileged I inspired Cameroon to victory. I appreciate the team\u2019s cooperative spirit which pushed us to victory\u201d Ngom Jerome said during the post match interview.<\/p>\n
\u201cBesides, it is an honour to defend the colours of the nation.That is why I am doing my best to ensure we leave this competition on a high.\u201d He added.<\/p>\n
Ngom, was a nightmare to the opponent defenders on Tuesday at the Oran Olympic stadium, with his full energy in delivering crosses and runs stretching the Congolese. His efforts paid off with a goal from a Ramses Donfack assist.<\/p>\n
He was deservedly voted player of the match after helping his side to victory with arguably the best performance on the turf.<\/p>\n
His performance in this encounter provoked praises from his coach Alioum Saidou.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat else would a coach ask for, if not seeing his players deliver as instructed. Ngom played well and this is the exact quality that he adds to our game.\u201d Coach Alioum said with some pride.<\/p>\n
The pacy winger was also a decisive passer in the pre-CHAN friendly match against Uganda as he did for Vincent Aboubakar to score the lone goal against Brazil in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.<\/p>\n
The 24-year-old is Cameroon’s to-go man at this tournament.<\/p>\n
