{"id":21826,"date":"2025-03-03T15:45:38","date_gmt":"2025-03-03T15:45:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kick442.com\/?p=21826"},"modified":"2025-03-03T15:45:38","modified_gmt":"2025-03-03T15:45:38","slug":"benni-mccarthy-unveiled-as-new-kenya-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kick442.com\/fr\/benni-mccarthy-unveiled-as-new-kenya-coach\/","title":{"rendered":"Benni McCarthy unveiled as new Kenya coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>South African football legend, Benni Mccarthy has been unveiled as the new head coach of the Kenyan national team.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 47 year old has signed a two-year contract to be in charge of the Harambee Stars, succeeding Engin Firat who left the coaching role in December last year.<\/p>\n<p>Benni was unveiled this Monday at the Kenyan football headquarters in Nairobi in the presence of president Hussein Mohammed and Kenyan football legend and vice president Macdonald Mariga.<\/p>\n<p>According to Football Kenya Federation president Hussein Mohammed the contract of lasts upto the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations Finals which will be co hosted by Kenya,Uaganda and Tanzania.<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy\u2019s first task will be to guide Kenya in its remaining 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Kenya trails group leaders Ivory Coast by five points and the new coach will be expected to inspire Stars campaign back on track.<\/p>\n<p>Kenya lies 4th behind Ivory Coast, second placed Gabon and Burundi who have managed 10,9 and 7 points respectively.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am honoured to take on this role and excited about the journey ahead with the Kenyan potential to compete at the highest level. Together with my coaching team, including Vasii Manousakis,Moeneeb Josephs, and Pilela Maposa,we are committed to building a structured, disciplined, and competitive squad. \u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur goal is to develop a strong team identity, play exciting football, and make the nation proud.
