Former Zambian football star Philemon Mulala, has been mangled to death by his own dogs and other pets at his home in Lichtenburg, South Africa.<\/p>\n
According to police investigations, wife of the 60-year deceased, found her husband\u2019s lifeless body in the garden after been bitten by their two staffordshire pitbull crossbreed and another dog which is an unknown breed.<\/p>\n
The tragic incident happened on January 7, 2023. Before the South African police contacted by his wife could arrive the scene, the former football star was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n
Investigations are been carried out to determine the circumstances leading to the unfortunate mutilation of the owner of the said three dogs.<\/p>\n
The dogs in question are presently under the guidance of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SAPS) after they were removed from the scene of the action to be protected.<\/p>\n
Beginning his footballer career with Wanderers in 1983, Mulala, played for the Zambian National team, Kaizer chief, Cape Town Spurs amongst others in the 1980\u2019s.<\/p>\n
The Zambian football association through it\u2019s Secretary General, Adrian Kashala, has paid tribute to the fallen central defender who sometimes played as a forward.<\/p>\n
\u00abThe football family has lost a gallant soldier. We remain with wonderful memories that the late Philemon honoured us with on the pitch. There is a lot that today\u2019s players can learn from the deceased\u2019s generation.\u201dsaid FAZ general secretary Adrian Kashala.<\/p>\n
The late Mulala was part of the Zambia team that won gold in the CECAFA Challenge Cup in 1984, the country\u2019s first honour post independence. He scored two goals in the tournament during the semi finals against Kenya, to hand Zambia the final ticket.<\/p>\n
