The Referees panel of the World football governing body, FIFA has named a Spanish Refereeing trio to be complemented by a Togolese and a Portuguese for the maiden meeting of Cameroon and Mexico at the U-20 FIFA World Cup this Saturday evening in Bogot\u00e1.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Spanish Referee Marta Huerta de Aza has been assigned to lead arbitration in the first-ever World Cup meeting of both nations. She will be assisted by Guadalupe Porras Ayuso and Eliana Fernandez Gonzalez are first assistant and second assistant Referees respectively.<\/p>\n

Togo’s Vincentia Amedome as fourth official and Vanessa Gomes from Portugal as reserve Referee complete the team of officials.<\/p>\n

Cameroon are one of two tournament debutants and booked their place at Colombia 2024 courtesy of a 5-3 aggregate win over Egypt in the CAF qualification tournament.<\/p>\n

With a squad bolstered by the likes of Le Mans forward Mana Lamine, who scored in both legs of the qualifying tie, and Stade Reims midfielder Monique Ngock, they\u2019ll be looking to build on a final pre-tournament match that saw them draw 1-1 with Venezuela on 24 August.<\/p>\n

Mexico arrive at the tournament as continental champions, having defeated USA 2-1 in the final of the 2023 Concacaf Women\u2019s U-20 Championship.<\/p>\n

Their pre-tournament form was more modest though, going winless in four outings, prior to a 1-0 victory over Nigeria earlier this week that they\u2019ll hope can serve as a springboard for their Bogota bow.<\/p>\n

The game at the El Campin stadium will kick-off in under an hour and mark the beginning of a new chapter in the competition’s history.<\/p>\n
