Despite being rushed to Khayelitsha Hospital, he tragically did not survive the injuries sustained during the shooting.<\/p>\n<p>Ndzingo, affectionately known as Akho, was a beloved member of the Lingelethu Local Football Association and had officiated matches up to the professional level.<\/p>\n<p>His contributions to football were recognized early in his career; at the age of 22, he was honored as the SAFA Cape Town Referee of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>The loss of Akho Ndzingo is not only a blow to the sporting world but also to the community he served as a law enforcement officer. His commitment to fair play on the field and his dedication to public service off the field will be remembered by many.<\/p>\n<p>Police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa says the Hawks are investigating a case of murder:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPolice have since launched a manhunt for the suspect. Police have opened a murder and attempted murder docket. Psychosocial support for the colleagues of the deceased member is currently being provided by the SAPS employee health and wellness practitioners&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation, and further details are awaited.
