<\/p>\nIt promises to be a huge payday for Moroccan medal winners at the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games, after the Moroccan National Olympic Committee and the Ministry in charge of Sports set criteria for the awarding of Moroccan athletes who will take part in the Games.<\/p>\n
The information released on January 4, 2023, is to encourage the athletes to present a worthy image of Morocco during these games. Athletes who win Gold medals will bag home 2 million dirhams. The winner of the silver medal will receive 1.25 million dirhams, while the winner of the bronze medal will receive 750,000 dirhams.<\/p>\n
The Moroccan National Olympic Committee added that in team sports (from 2 to 4 people) a grant of one million dirhams for a gold medal, 750,000 dirhams for a silver medal and 500,000 dirhams for a bronze medal has been allocated. A team of over 5 participants will win AED 700,000 (Gold), AED 500,000 (Silver) and AED 400,000 (Bronze).<\/p>\n

Athletes who set records during the Olympic Games will receive a grant of AED 1 million for a world record and AED 500,000 for an Olympic record. There will also be grants from AED 300,000 (fourth place) to AED 50,000 (21st to 32nd) for individual sports and from AED 33,000 to AED 200,000 for group sports (from 2 to 4 people) and between AED 25,000 and AED 150,000 for team sports (more than 5 people).<\/p>\n
With all these bonuses the Moroccan National Olympic Committee hopes the athletes will wipe away the shame, the country had back at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The country picked up just one Gold medal in the entire competition, following in the previous editions of bad results. The last time Morocco did better at the Olympic Games came back in the 1984 Los Angeles Games where they picked up two gold medals. In the 2004 Athens Games, Moroccan athletes came back with two gold medals, the last time the country picked up a gold medal until Tokyo 2020.<\/p>\n
Throughout its history, Morocco\u2019s athletic teams have managed to amass 23 medals in total, with 19 from Athletics, and 4 in boxing.<\/p>\n
The Moroccan National Olympic Committee has indicated that this is not a qualifying grant, but a performance grant to encourage qualified athletes to perform at their best to increase Morocco\u2019s participation in the Paris 2024 Olympics.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
