{"id":17281,"date":"2024-05-22T14:17:44","date_gmt":"2024-05-22T14:17:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kick442.com\/?p=17281"},"modified":"2024-05-22T14:17:44","modified_gmt":"2024-05-22T14:17:44","slug":"jonathan-mckinstry-appointed-as-gambias-national-team-head-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kick442.com\/fr\/jonathan-mckinstry-appointed-as-gambias-national-team-head-coach\/","title":{"rendered":"Jonathan McKinstry Appointed as Gambia&#8217;s National Team Head Coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) has named Jonathan McKinstry as the new head coach for the national team.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a statement posted on the federations social media platform, the GFF welcomed McKinstry, emphasizing his extensive coaching experience.<\/p>\n<p>Currently managing Gor Mahia FC in Kenya, McKinstry will assume his role as head coach on June 1, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>His primary task is to lead the Scorpions through the qualifiers for the 2025 AFCON and the 2026 World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Gambia Football Federation wishes to congratulate and welcome our new gaffer Jonathan McKinstry on his appointment as Head Coach of the Scorpions. Jonny, a former Sierra Leone, Uganda and Rwanda coach is the current manager of Gor Mahia FC in Kenya and will take over from 1st June, 2024. He\u2019s to oversee our qualification for the 2025 AFCON and 2026 World Cup&#8221;, the Facebook post reads<\/p>\n<p>Gambia, placed in Group F, faces Seychelles on June 3 and travels to Gabon for a June 10 fixture in the qualification rounds.<\/p>\n<p>McKinstry, an Irishman, takes over from Tom Saintfiet, who resigned after Gambia&#8217;s exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.<\/p>\n<p>McKinstry&#8217;s successful tenure at Gor Mahia saw the club regain its competitive edge. Under his guidance, they secured consecutive titles, outperforming Tusker by 11 points last season.<\/p>\n<p>Before Gor Mahia, McKinstry achieved a 67% win rate as Uganda&#8217;s national team coach, including victory in the 2019 CECAFA Challenge Cup.
